Dinner at Madhur's (part two)

Photos edited in Adobe Lightroom. Pictures taken with Canon EOS SL1.

The View from Madhur's Condo

It looks like something out of a postcard. He lives on the 25th floor so I was able to get a nice shot of thw skyline looking out onto Lake Ontario. This was close to sunset, and even though

FOOD & PREPARATION

The red soup bowl you see in the picture below is Paneer Tikka Masala, which is Indian farm cheese usually grilled/fried and made with tomato and milk based gravy (Thanks Madhur for the correction!).

The other Dal Palak (lentils cooked with spinach).

Patra (Patarveliya) is most popular with Gujarati people. This is a savoury steamed leaf roll recipe, made from arbi or colocasia leaf. The leaves are rolled in flour and can be served with red chili powder, cumin seeds, mustard seeds, tumeric powder and coriander powder.

Patra with Om Pudi sprinkled on top

Naan literally translates into "bread" and according to Wikipedia, there isn't anything particularly special about Naan other than the fact that many Westerners are obsessed with the taste (myself included). Its used to scoop foods.

A typical naan recipe involves mixing white flour with salt, a yeast culture, and enough yogurt to make a smooth, elastic dough. The dough is kneaded for a few minutes, then set aside to rise for a few hours. Once risen, the dough is divided into balls (about 100 grams or 3.5 oz each), which are flattened and cooked. -Wk

Madhur added a few spices on top to make it extra delicious!

    Some minor typos:

    1. 25th floor instead of 23rd floor :p
    2. The red soup bowl you see in the picture below is Paneer Tikka Masala (Indian farm cheese usually grilled/fried and made with tomato and milk based gravy)
    3. The other thing in the picture is Dal Palak (lentils cooked with spinach)
