Halloween Party Inspiration

I'm putting together a few ideas for a Halloween Party that I'm hosting this year at my new condo downtown. Having my own space has been wonderful as I can organize, decorate and clean to my heart's desire without parents looming over and questioning everything I'm doing (they're not big on events and holidays).

Female Group Costumes

Myself and my girlfriends plan to go out for Halloween together. We had been browsing different female "group" costume ideas. We wanted something simple and something everybody wanted to do. I thought the most brilliant idea was actually female Batman villains.

Ombre Inspiration

I emailed the stylists a picture of my current hair, and two pics of ombres that I would like to get (I ended up emailing them Michelle Phan's ombre pics) and they said it would be completely doable! My hair is very long and super thick. Although a bit pricey, I may be saving to do it closer to my birthday in December as a treat to myself.

The Cocktail Dress: Inspiration

I'll be attending a friend's wedding reception this Saturday and its an entirely outdoors, complete with Gazebo. The weather however is going to be super cold AND no stilettos for grass.

The most appropriate dress for guests at a wedding reception is probably a cocktail dress or formal dress. You can get away with a more casual dress if you are not part of immediate family or the wedding party. Or if you are not the MC or making a speech during the reception.

Housewarming Party

Since moving downtown by the harbourfront, putting together a housewarming party was challenging.

Cleaning up the House:

• Sweeping, vacuuming and mopping all floors (in that order)
• Washing all linens
• Dusting and cleaning all household and table surfaces
• Removing and organizing any remaining boxes
• Kitchen: Good oven scrub (with oven cleaner), clean dishwasher
• Clean Bathrooms
• Empty waste bins

Getting a Pinterest board up and pinning potential ideas and recipes are very helpful. I planned for some appetizers and desserts:

I already own Martha Stewart's Homekeeping Handbook, and  have had wonderful experience baking cookies from scratch using her recipes.
